If you're a tea enthusiast or simply looking to escape the hustle of Onomichi, look no further than Tea Stand Yamate. Nestled in the charming streets of Hiroshima, this quaint tea house is a gem that offers a serene retreat with breathtaking views, making it a must-visit on your journey.

Upon entering the tea stand, you're greeted by a tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of a Zen temple. The space is adorned with subtle décor that complements the peaceful vibe—perfect for those moments of reflection or leisurely conversation over a cup of meticulously brewed tea. The aroma of various tea leaves wafts through the air, inviting you to explore their unique offerings.

One of the standout highlights of Tea Stand Yamate is its exquisite selection of specialty teas, including the elusive Hiroshima Zairai Seicha. This rare variety exemplifies the rich tea culture of the region and has received rave reviews from customers. Matthew Li described it as "exquisite," emphasizing how difficult it is to find such quality even within Hiroshima city. The experience doesn't stop at just enjoying the tea; their unique policy allows patrons to refill their tea with hot water up to three times, allowing you to savor the depth of flavors that unfold with each steeping.

Customers rave about the friendly service here, with Phil L noting that the lady at the stand provides care and attention in recommending teas. This personal touch enhances the experience, as she expertly guides you through a menu of high-quality options, including the local Hamacha, known for its slightly salty taste due to sun drying. The warm hospitality paired with the tranquil setting creates an environment that feels both relaxing and rejuvenating.

For those who find themselves enchanted by these brews, Tea Stand Yamate offers the chance to take home your favorite selections. This allows you to carry a piece of this delightful experience back with you, letting you savor the calmness of Onomichi long after your visit.

Whether you seek a peaceful retreat to enjoy beautifully crafted tea or want to engage in delightful conversations while delighting your palate, Tea Stand Yamate promises an experience that transcends the ordinary. Prepare to be charmed by the scenic views, the extraordinary teas, and the inviting atmosphere that has guests returning time and time again.

Very beautiful teahouse with a fantastic view of Onomichi. You can try speciality tea grown in Hiroshima, which is very hard to find anywhere else (even in Hiroshima City). I had the Hiroshima Zairai Seicha, which was exquisite. A must-visit for tea enthusiasts.

A lovely little tea stand with a great selection of high-quality teas. What’s really nice is that you can add hot water up to three times, so you can truly enjoy and savor the flavors. They also sell their teas to take home, which is perfect if you find one you love. The shop was quiet and empty when I visited, so I had the whole space to myself—a peaceful and relaxing experience. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys slow, mindful tea drinking. PS the owner was super nice and made small talk while I was there.

Lovely place and lovely experience, since the entrance the lady attends with exquisite style and recommends very carefully from a menu of several teas including delicate handpicked white tea and local green varieties (very recommendable the Hamacha locally sun dried with a slightly salty touch); you can take a seat at the ground floor (a nice setting with some morning sun running through the shadows) or upstairs (a more traditional style) where the views of the bay and the mountain are a perfect match for the experience. I consider it a perfect spot for taking a time during your visit to the area.

It’s so good having green tea here. It likes to have in a Zen temple. If you wanna reflesh in this heat, this place brings you to a Nehan.

Absolutely delicious Teas. I tried the cold teas of the season; they were brewed masterfully. They take the time to explain in english as well, and they do a great job at it. Highly recommend going there at Sunset. you get a peaceful and authentic Japanese teahouse experience. Thank you!

We went there around one hour before closing time on a sunday & were so lucky as to have the place almost to ourselves. This tea store really is a gem. It seems to have been there for a long time but it was refurbished a while ago. There are two floors, the Upper one is a tatami room with a beautiful view on the seaside of Onomichi. We ordered 5 different hot and cold teas all of which tasted delicious. The lady who served us was friendly, explained the different tea varieties & showed us how to prepare them. Go there if you're looking for a delicous cup of green tea or a couple, a well thought-through interior design that combines modern, original elements without loosing the antique charm of the place & a very calming atmosphere.

Great place to visit. My friends and I ordered the cold tea. It came with a hojicha tea and oolong. It was perfectly made. Great flavor. The tea room upstairs has a great view
